However, many tour operators can close their services during peak winter due to harsh weather conditions. So, checking with the tour operators and booking in advance is best. The average daytime temperature is around -5°C, while the nighttime temperature can plunge below -15°C. The monthly precipitation level is 5 mm, and the wind speed is 7 to 8 km/hr.

Visa

All foreign travelers except Indian residents must obtain a valid Nepal visa to travel and tour in Nepal. You can get the visa on arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. The visa fees will vary depending on the duration of the stay. You can also apply for single or multiple-entry visas. The costs are as follows:

Your passport must be valid for at least six months before expiry, and you will need a passport-size photo. You can pay the visa fee using significant currencies such as the American dollar, pound, euro, etc.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is mandatory for trekking and touring to high altitude regions like Everest Base Camp. The insurance should cover the high altitude above 5000 meters, altitude sickness, flight cancellation, and medical and emergency expenses. Permits

The Luxury Tour Heli Everest requires two permits: the Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit and the Khumbu Rural Municipality Permit. Foreigners can obtain these permits through a registered trekking agency in Kathmandu. The costs of permits are as follows:

Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit: NPR 1500 per person for SAARC nationals and NPR 3000 per person for non-SAARC nationals. Children under ten years are eligible for free entry.

Khumbu Rural Municipality Permit: NPR 2000 per person for the first four weeks and NPR 2500 per person after four weeks.
