Trek Difficulty

The Annapurna Khayer Lake Trek offers a moderately challenging adventure. The trail goes through diverse terrain and varying altitudes. While most of the path is well-maintained and marked, trekkers should expect some steep climbs and descents. These parts can be physically demanding. The trek’s highest point is Khayer Lake, about 4,600 meters (15,092 feet) above sea level.

The trek usually takes 8-10 days, depending on the chosen route. Daily hikes range from 4 to 7 hours. Some days, especially those near Khayer Lake, may have longer hikes. A reasonable level of fitness is necessary. Trekkers should be comfortable walking for long periods and ready for changes in altitude and weather conditions. The Himalayan weather can be unpredictable. Temperatures can vary from warm and sunny to chilly and possibly snowy at higher elevations.

Best Time to Travel to Khayer Lake Trek

The best time to travel to Khayer Lake Trek is spring and autumn. Spring offers clear skies, blooming flowers, and pleasant temperatures from March to May. This season is great for enjoying the beautiful scenery and mild weather. Similarly,  Autumn, from September to November, is another ideal time for this trek. The weather is stable, with clear skies and cool, comfortable temperatures.

During this season, the views of the mountains are spectacular, and the trekking conditions are perfect. It’s best to avoid the monsoon season (June to August) due to heavy rain and slippery trails. Winter (December to February) is also not recommended. The extreme cold and snow can make the trek challenging and less enjoyable.

Meals And Accommodation

Accommodations during the trek are in teahouses or guesthouses along the route. These lodges are basic but comfortable. They offer twin or triple rooms with simple bedding and shared bathrooms. Some teahouses may have attached bathrooms with hot showers available for an additional cost. Ensure the higher your altitude, the more amenities you get at a higher price.

You will typically enjoy three meals daily: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. These meals are available at teahouses or guesthouses along the trekking route. Breakfast often includes eggs, toast, porridge, and tea or coffee. Lunch and dinner menus offer various options such as rice, noodles, pasta, potatoes, vegetables, dal (lentil soup), and sometimes meat or fish dishes. Local specialties and snacks like momos (dumplings) are also available.

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements

The 20-day Khayer Lake Trek in the Annapurna Region of Nepal is suitable for travelers who can walk 6-7 hours daily. It covers 10-15 kilometers over hilly terrain. It’s good to jog in the mornings to prepare for the trek. Also, exercising an hour daily for about a month before starting can be a plus. Involving in some exercise helps you to build stamina and strengthen leg muscles, which are essential for trekking in the Himalayas.

While prior trekking experience in high places is helpful, it’s not required. We recommend you do regular physical activities for at least a month. Also, be sure of altitude sickness as you trek to higher altitudes. You need to consult the doctor if you have health issues like heart, lung, or blood problems. Let Nepal Base Camp Treks (Pvt. Ltd.) know about medical conditions before booking. We will make plans accordingly and keep you safe during the trek.

The Happiest Moment in Nepal

We deeply appreciate Sappa & our guide Suraj’s arrangement for our trip to Poon Hill & ABC trekking package. The view is stunning and the whole walking trek is pleasant with diverse nature seeing. The highest compliment I would like to give nepalbasecamptreks is their flexibility in arranging our itinerary. Making us feeling privilege while having this private trip, of course with reasonable price! Thanks to our porter Patan that work in Malaysia before and helping us all the time. Unforgettable Nepal Trekking: Exceptional Service and Hospitality

Warm wishes from cold Germany. Catrin In English: Amazing trip to Nepal! Best service, high professionalism and friendliness. In October 2018, I visited Nepal with a friend. Over Sappa we booked an unforgettable 6-day trekking through Ghorepani in the Annapurna region. The trekking tour and stages were arranged according to our wishes and all matters concerning the registration in the Annapurna region and the transfer from the hotel in Pokhara regarding Sappa and his team were done. On the trekking tour we were accompanied by a highly professional and courteous team (mountain guide Shyam and porters Aita). Shyam always informed us exactly about the course of the trekking stages as well as the region, mountains / vegetation and villagers etc. The lodges / rooms and catering corresponded to a high standard, especially in comparison to group travel from German providers. We had tea in the teahouses, for example. almost always a private bathroom with shower and toilet and pomegranate for dessert J. Finally, we were invited to a traditional Dal Bhat food and a farewell dinner. In addition to the impressive trekking tour, Sappa organized a guide for a day hike from Nargakot to Changu Narayan. For the visit of the Kathmanduvalleys (Bhaktapur, Dhulikel, Panauti, Patan, Nargakot (Sunrise)) a driver was available, who reliably drove us over hill and dale to all desired villages and destinations. This brought us finally with stops in Mankamana, Gorkha and 1 night in the charming mountain village Bandipur to Pokhara. We also booked our unforgettable and absolutely recommendable Mount Everest sightseeing flight with transfer from the hotel via Sappa. I am very grateful for the great organization and the friendliness of Sappa and his team and can warmly recommend them without any restrictions. Warm wishes from cold Germany.

Fabulous Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Nepal Base Camp Treks

After reading so many online reviews on different trekking companies. We contacted Sappa Lama (Manging Director) for inquiring about a trekking the Annapurna Base Camp. This was our second visit to Nepal. We are age of 56 and 58 from Germany and without the help of guide and porter impossible to complete this adventure trip.My First Trek to Nepal was in April, 2002 with a different agency at Thamel. After receiving several queries and descriptions of about the trek we focused on Nepal Base Camp Treks. I had done a research on where to stay in Kathmandu and when I asked Sappa Lama where he recommended he suggested Hotel Taleju Boutique. The place was nice, i was interested in. His airport representative met us at the arrival gate of airport with our name list and private vehicle to transfer us the hotel. Sappa and porter Suraj were great to travel with. They took care of all the tedious details so that we could enjoy holiday in Nepal. It was a fabulous journey in my life and we are planning to come back next year to trek with Sappa.

Perfect Annapurna Adventure with Sappa

Last year it was my first trip to Asia. I had always dreamt about hiking in Himalayas. I was a bit worried as I turned fifty and had no experience with high altitudes. Our trip took over three weeks and was just perfect. Sappa looked after us as a caring “mama”, made sure everybody was fine and enjoying themselves. The mountains where breathtaking, people extremely nice and we became real friends with Sappa and the porters. What a vacation! Annapurna base camp hike was fantastic, I plan to come back and take more friends, so they can share this wonderful

Sappa: The Ultimate Guide in Nepal
