Although the Annapurna Circuit Trek is moderately complex, it is much harder than the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Several factors increase the difficulty level of the trek. Some of the team are below-mentioned:
Trekking Distance and Duration
The trek covers a distance of about 160-230 kilometers (100-145 miles), depending on your specific route. It usually takes 15 to 20 days to complete. The long distance and the daily walking time of 5 to 7 hours can be tiring.
High Altitude and Elevation Gain
The trek reaches a high point at Thorong La Pass, 5,416 meters. Ascending to the highest altitude can create a problem of altitude sickness. You may encounter symptoms such as shortness of breath, headaches, nausea, and fatigue.
Terrain and Trail Conditions
The terrain varies from easy walking paths to steep, rocky trails. Some parts of the trek also include slippery trails, especially if it rains. Also, crossing rivers and narrow paths can be a hassle for you. Thus, you need to have proper balancing skills.
Weather Conditions
The weather in the Himalayas is unpredictable. It keeps on changing. During your trekking trial, you can experience ward days, cold nights, rain, and snow. So, it is always advisable to check the weather and pack accordingly. It ensures safety and comfort.
